The ADS61JB46EVM is a circuit board that allows designers to evaluate the performance of Texas Instruments‘ ADS61JB46 device, a low power one channel 14-bit 160 MSPS analog to digital converter. The ADC features a JEDEC JESD204a 8b/10b coded serial output that can operate as one serial output at 3.125Gbps or two serial outputs at 1.6Gbps each. The EVM provides a flexible environment to test the ADS61JB46 under a variety of clock, analog input, and supply conditions.
The ADS61JB46EVM includes an FPGA on board to accept the JESD204a serial coded sample link and convert it to a parallel bus LVDS DDR sample interface similar to the data formats from devices such as ADS4249. This option is provided for ease of use with existing evaluation solutions that do not include the ability to accept 8b/10b coded serial links. Solder options on the EVM allow the 8b/10b coded data links to be connected to the Samtec connector to be used with evaluation solutions that do accept 8b/10b coded serial links.
Using the on-board FPGA option, the ADS61BJ46EVM is directly compatible to the TSW1200EVM, TSW1400 or TSW1405 high speed LVDS ADC data capture cards. It is also compatible with Altera and Xilinx FPGA EVMs which have FMC or HSMC connectors, via the appropriate interposer card.
