This EVM is a complete evaluation system for the bq2084/bq29312/bq29400 Li-Ion smart battery chipset. The EVM includes one bq2084/bq29312 and the independent 2nd level overvoltage protection bq29400 and the circuit module with current sense resistor and thermistor. The circuit monitors and predicts capacity, performs cell balancing, monitors critical parameters, protects the cells from overcharge, over discharge, short circuit, and overcurrent in 2-, 3- or 4-series cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer battery packs. The circuit module connects directly across the cells in a battery. With the EV2300 interface board and software, the user can read the bq2084 data registers, program the chipset for different pack configurations, log cycling data for further evaluation and evaluate the overall functionality of the bq2084/bq29312 and bq29400 solution under different charge and discharge conditions. An EV2300 board is required to interface this EVM with the PC and can be purchased separately.
Please refer to the bq2084EVM-001 User Guide for information on how to install the software, connect the evaluation setup, and use the main features of the evaluation kit.
