The TVP5150AEVM evaluation module is used to demonstrate the TVP5150A. The TVP5150A is an ultra low power NTSC/PAL/SECAM 9-bit video decoder designed for portable video applications. It converts analog baseband video into digital component data. Packaged in a small 32-pin TQFP package and consuming 115mW, the TVP5150A is the smallest and lowest power video decoder.
It supports NTSC, PAL and SECAM video standards provided by two CVBS inputs or one S-Video input. The TVP5150A supports ITU-R BT.601 digital outputs with discrete HSYNC and VSYNC or ITU-R BT.656 with embedded syncs.
The TVP5150A also provides an adaptive 4-line comb filter, a New Robust Sync Detector for improved performance with VCR trick modes (ffw, rew, pause and play), weak or noisy signals and nonstandard input signals, Macrovision detection and a flexible VBI data processor to support all of today's VBI data formats.
With the smallest package and lowest power, the TVP5150A is the highest performing video decoder designed specifically for portable video applications.
The TVP5150AEVM was designed for ease of use to minimize set up time while providing a complete evaluation system for the TVP5150A video decoder.
The TVP5150AEVM includes the TVP5150A NTSC/PAL/SECAM Video Decoder Board Module, an Encoder Board Module, a universal 5V power supply and a parallel port cable.
It also includes a Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP compatible application called WinVCC4 (Windows Video Control Center). WinVCC4 communicates with the TVP5150AEVM via I2C through a PC parallel port connection and provides the means for manipulating system register settings.
This software is provided with the TVP5150AEVM. The latest version of WinVCC4 is also available for download below.

The TVP5150AEVM installation program is available for download below. The zip file comes complete with the parallel port driver, WinVCC4, the TVP5150A data manual, the TVP5150AEVM User´s Guide and the TVP5150AEVM Quick Start Guide.
- Run SETUP.EXE (This must be executed at the PC that will be used to control the EVM)
- Click Next at all prompts and finally click Finish to complete the installation process.
